This Vancouver wedding holds a special place in my heart. Collin and Justine are my dear friends and are also my siblings-in-law. I met Collin when we were 11-years-old, after him and some of his family started attending the same church as me. Collin was always like a brother to me, and funnily enough, this became official when I married his brother, Nic. When Collin met Justine a few years back, I knew instantly that they had a strong connection and were perfect for each other. I loved being able to witness the way they fell for each other and began starting their life together. I was so honoured to be asked to be their wedding planner for their wedding this past summer. Feel free to enjoy some of these lovely photos from their special day. Bride & Bridesmaid's Dresses: Lisa's Bridal

As an event planner, it is my privilege to give recommendations to my clients on local vendors. As part of the launch of my new website, I am going to blog about various local vendors who work in the Vancouver area. Today's vendor feature is Matt & Carissa Kennedy of Matt Kennedy Photography. They are a talented duo who have taken many amazing photos of weddings, engagements, families, and so much more. Feel free to check out some of their photos and learn a bit about these two. Who are you? Matt & Carissa Kennedy with Matt Kennedy Photography. We are a Vancouver and Destination husband and wife photography team based in Vancouver, BC. Why did you start doing weddings? I started doing weddings simply because I was starting to learn on a nice camera and some friends of ours were getting married and didn't have a photographer. What is your favourite part of working in the wedding industry? Beyond the wedding day, we love marriage and we strongly value marriage. What a great industry to do what we love, while celebrating two lives and families joining together! Any advice for brides and grooms who are currently planning their wedding? Carefully consider what your top priorities are for your wedding! If it is food, invest some money into some great food. If it is good photography that will trigger the memories of the special day, then spend some time searching for a great photographer. Also, remember to set aside a few minutes on your wedding day for just the two of you! A random fact about yourselves. Matt is really good at painting our daughters' finger nails and Carissa will write things that she's already completed on her lists, just so she can cross them off! If you are a vendor interested in being featured on the Jodi Marie Events' blog, please email Jodi at info@jodimarieevents.com.
Serena and I have known each other since we were toddlers. As we grew up together, we became dear friends. We interned together two summers in a row, attended the same church and college, and even got engaged just one day apart from each other! Serena was a bridesmaid in my wedding in 2012, and then a few months later I had the privilege of being the event planner at her wedding. Jordan and Serena were certainly made for each other. They are full of love for each other, and are a joy to be around. This love has recently expanded, as they are expecting a baby this March! Below are some lovely photos from their Fall wedding. "Jodi was very professional and organized. She made our big day go smoothly without any hiccups. We felt extremely pleased with her efforts coordinating our wedding setup and coordinating our reception! Thanks so much for all your work Jodi!" -Serena Bride's Dress: The Bridal Gallery

She has been such a dear and kind friend from the day we met, and I am so grateful to have her in my life. We've had many adventures together, including college classes, dorm room sleepovers, and one of the most exciting adventures in life: wedding planning. She was a support to me when I got married in 2012, and I was blessed to be able to support her back when she got married a year later. Jess and Luke are perfect for each other, and it has been exciting to watch them journey through dating, engagement, and now marriage. Please enjoy some of these beautiful photos from their special day. Jodi Marie events was very professional, detail oriented, reliable and personable.
