I have the privilege of featuring Evan and Dwight from Wilhelm Wedding Cinema on the blog today. This duo create absolutely beautiful films of some of the most important days in a person's life: proposals, engagements, weddings, and so much more. Be sure to give this vendor feature a read through to see some of Wilhelm's work, as well as an interview with these talented videographers!
I'm especially excited about the first video in this feature: Jordan and Sarah's proposal. Jordan and Sarah were married in January, and I had the privilege of being their Day-Of Coordinator (pictures will be coming soon). Be warned though, be sure to have the kleenexes out before you start watching their proposal video. ;) Who are you? We are Evan Bourque and Dwight Jantzi of Wilhelm Wedding Cinema.
Why did you start doing weddings? As underwhelming as it sounds, I (Dwight) first started creating wedding videos because my friend’s sister asked me to. I had been making snowboarding and skateboarding videos with my friends for awhile but I was looking for a new challenge so when the opportunity came about to shoot a wedding I jumped on it. In the six years since then I’ve fallen in love with creating beautiful and emotional wedding films that capture the personality of the couple. It’s always a pleasure because every couple is different and so telling their story is always a new challenge.
What is your favourite part of working in the wedding industry? The best part about shooting weddings is hearing and seeing first hand the development of amazing love stories and then having the opportunity to show them off to the world. A great example of this is our engagement films. We typically meet with the boyfriend in the months leading up to the proposal and talk about who they are as a couple, their story, and what they’re all about. From here we help to craft a proposal that is personal and impactful. It’s an amazing feeling to see our couples announce their engagements to their friends and family the day after the proposal using the film we created for them. Any advice for brides and grooms who are currently planning their wedding? Your wedding day will go by so quickly so our best advice to you is to enjoy it as much as you can! Throughout the day be sure to stop for a few moments to take it all in because it is all about you and it only happens once. Another tip to help with this is to hire a photographer and filmmaker to save those memories for you forever. We are there to capture all the moments that quickly pass you by so that you can enjoy them for years down the road so definitely put time and effort into choosing companies that will work best with you!
A random fact (or two) about yourself. When we’re not making wedding films that make you feel feelings we love to snowboard, jump bikes, hike, skateboard, and make music. If you’re curious to hear the beautiful sounds that Evan creates check out his music project at www.facebook.com/EvanBourqueMusic. On the other hand if you want to see Dwight awkwardly fall on a dirt jump you can head to Vanier park in Vancouver on a nice summer night. James + Sharon - Highlights from Wilhelm on Vimeo.
