I'm always grateful when friends hire me to be the coordinator for their weddings! Ben and Eva were married this past September, and it really was a beautiful day! The biggest memory that sticks out from the day is that the wedding was infused with the couple's personality. This included the groom wearing a giant horse head at certain points, the headbanging down the aisle after the couple was pronounced husband and wife, and the pizza and taco bar for their reception dinner. Ben and Eva seemed to truly have fun at their wedding, and it was a pleasure to be a small part of their wedding day. Best wishes, Ben and Eva, I can't wait to see where your future takes the two of you! Love, Jodi Marie PS. An adorable picture of my tiny baby in his wedding attire is on the blog post! This. This right here. This is a wedding that I'm very excited to be sharing on the blog today. It was such a fun, upbeat wedding, with so many special moments. It unfortunately poured rain on the wedding day, but that didn't faze this bride and groom one bit. Before you look through the photos, here are a few of my favourite moments from the day:
Much love, Jodi Marie "Jodi is a true professional and we knew right from our first meeting with her that we wanted her to coordinate our wedding. She is always prepared, on-time, and incredibly detail-oriented, reliable, and responsive. She even made sure to check-in with each of our vendors and share our schedule with them as our wedding day approached. During our rehearsal, our musicians didn't show up, and Jodi called them afterwards to brief them on what we went over.
It was such a relief knowing that she would take care of everything on the wedding day. I was glad that my bridesmaids, friends, and family would not feel stressed out on the day-of and that they could relax and enjoy themselves. My husband and I weren't worried at all because we knew Jodi could take care of anything that came up. After the wedding, my husband and I were chatting, and I asked him who his favourite vendor was - and he immediately named Jodi. Honestly, I don't think our wedding day could've gone as smoothly if it weren't for all of Jodi's hard work. We have such great and fun memories from the night because we didn't need to be stressed. When you work so hard to plan all the details of your wedding, you do not want to be worried about all those details on the actual day! You've invested a lot in the day so the most important thing is to enjoy it. So a trusted wedding day-of coordinator should be a top priority. We were so impressed with Jodi and would highly recommend her!" -Cheryl Catering: Party Chef Day-Of Coordinator: Jodi Marie Events DJ: DJ BFAD Florist: V&J Plant Shop Hair/Makeup: The Love Team Ice Cream: Rain or Shine Musicians (Ceremony): 12Strings Officiant: Paula Cline Photographer: Gillian Stevens Rentals: One Stop Party Rentals and Bespoke Decor Venue: Performance Works Videographer: Fresh Canadian Content Andrew and Nicole were married this past February and it was such a stunning day! It's full of beautiful details and photographs that serve as a wonderful memory of an amazing wedding. I'll keep it simple and let the photos speak for themselves. I hope you love them as much as I do! "Our wedding with the help of Jodi was a very low stress affair. She went above and beyond what we could have ever expected as she contacted our vendors and made sure all the little details were taken care of. Jodi is an incredibly detail oriented individual and makes sure to be prepared for every situation. It is also easy to tell that she thrives under high pressure situations and loves being involved in what marriage is all about. Thanks for all your help and hospitality Jodi Marie Events." -S
"Jodi did an amazing job at my sister's wedding in May! She is personable, organized, thoughtful, and caring. I knew that she was genuinely invested in making the day as special as possible! Jodi takes care of the details that you don't want to be thinking about, but can't forget on the day of! We are so thankful to her for all the help at the ceremony and at the reception. She was professional throughout the whole day and was there helping us clean up at the end of the night. I will definitely be recommending Jodi Marie Events!" -S's sister Caterer: Wilbur & Sebastiens Ceremony Venue: Eagle Ridge Bible Fellowship Day-Of Coordinator: Jodi Marie Events Florals: Bridal Beginnings Photographer: ALBA As promised in my last blog post, I said I would share the announcement of my baby once I got the newborn baby photos back. My husband and I are thrilled to announce that we had a baby BOY! He's an amazing little guy (and oh so cute too). Keep scrolling to see a few photos of our Wesley! <3 PS. Be sure to read through to the bottom of this blog post for a few more thoughts from me. :) With this news, many of you may be wondering whether I'll still be doing weddings and events or not. The answer is YES, I will definitely still be doing weddings and events. Wedding and event planning is my passion and I don't think there is anything that can change that.
But how will I do weddings with a little one? The answer is that I have an incredibly supportive husband who is more than capable of holding down everything on the home front while I'm at weddings, events, and meetings. Wesley is also the first grandchild for both my parents and Nic's parents, so the grandparents are already lining up to have a chance to babysit him. All to say, YES my business is still up and running. So be sure to contact me if you have an upcoming event that you need assistance with! As many may know, late in 2015 my husband and I found out we were expecting our first baby. We soon learned that our baby was due in early August of 2016, pretty much right in the middle of wedding season. Regardless of the timing, we found that the due date actually worked quite well as most of this year's inquiries were for April-July and September-November, leaving August for us to have our baby and adjust to the newness of that. That being said, I had several weddings booked while I was at varying stages of the pregnancy. 17 weeks, 30 weeks, 35 weeks, and 38.5 weeks. I put together backup plans for each wedding, in case something came up with the pregnancy that would affect the weddings. Thankfully I was able to attend each of the weddings before the baby was born and I felt surprisingly well at all of the weddings. I learned a lot during the process, that I'm excited to be sharing today, in hopes that it can help other wedding vendors who are braving weddings while pregnant. 1. Be Prepared I (over) prepared all the notes about the weddings I did while I was pregnant. I wanted to ensure that if I wasn't able to be at a wedding at the last moment, that the person filling in for me would know exactly every detail that I knew. I wrote up notes about each portion of the day: a detailed timeline, what needed to be setup at the ceremony, what needed to be moved from the ceremony to the reception, what needed to be setup at the reception, what needed to be cleaned up, special notes from the bride and groom, a detailed vendor contact sheet, and so on. It was really helpful for those who assisted me at the various weddings and I've decided that this (over) preparedness of notes is going to be common practice at all future weddings that I do. 2. Dress Comfortably Speaking from experience, pregnancy isn't necessarily comfortable a lot of the time. Your feet swell, your back aches, your belly is protruding. I knew that if I wanted to be successful at the weddings that I did, I needed to wear clothing and shoes that made me feel comfortable. I chose clothing that was still classy and formal, but that allowed me to move freely without discomfort. The definition of "comfortable" really varies depending on the person and I highly recommend wearing whatever will make you feel your best despite being pregnant. 3. Get Help I knew that with being pregnant, I couldn't do weddings alone. I was definitely capable of doing most everything while pregnant, but there were a few things that needed to be avoided for safety reasons. I brought in assistants for my weddings who helped with lifting, climbing ladders, and moving heavier objects from one place to the next. I learned that I couldn't physically do everything that I'd done before getting pregnant and that I couldn't be afraid of asking those around me for help. It was a learning process but it was definitely worth it. Overall, this pregnancy has been a major learning experience. I learned that I'm capable of doing more than I ever expected. I learned that asking for help is nothing to be ashamed of and will only make a wedding day that much smoother. I learned that weddings are important to me (and will continue to be important to me). My hope is that this blog post will help other wedding vendors as they brave the waters of doing weddings while pregnant. I'd love to hear tips from other weddings vendors about how they successfully did weddings while pregnant, so be sure to comment below!
Ps. Our baby was born on July 30th! Just six days after my last pre-baby wedding. I'll be sure to share news about the baby once we get the newborn photos back! Stay tuned! ;) Photographs by Natahsha Priya. Some days I have the privilege of doing weddings for amazing people that I know. This wedding was one of those privileges for me. There were several special memories that I'm excited to share with you today:

Day-Of Coordinator: Jodi Marie Events DJ: Deft Audio Photographer: ALBA Venue: Whonnock Hall I love having the opportunity to share photos from weddings that I've done. Today I'm sharing some detail shots from a wedding that took place this past November. It truly was a great day, and I have a few special memories from the wedding day:
Much love, Jodi Marie "Walking up to the venue, I was nervous, butterflies in my stomach, and then I saw Jodi, clipboard in hand, smiling at us reassuringly, and I just felt myself relax. Everything was going to be fine. Jodi was here and everything was handled. And that's exactly how the day went! Throughout the entire planning phase, and on the day-of, Jodi went way above and beyond to make sure our wedding was exactly what we wanted, down to the last detail. My now-husband had been reluctant to hire a coordinator, as our simple wedding meant we could handle it ourselves, but after his first meeting with her, he walked out saying 'I'm so happy we hired Jodi Marie Events.' I only wish I'd hired her earlier so she could have helped out more! We wholeheartedly recommend her. Go ahead and hire her, you will be glad you did." -K
What can I say except that I love weddings. I always, always, always consider it a privilege when I am able to assist a couple with their wedding. Ryan and Amy were so relaxed throughout their entire planning process, and their wedding day was exactly that: relaxed. There are countless special moments that I remember from Ryan and Amy's wedding day:
Much love, Jodi Marie "Jodi is AWESOME! I had given her extremely loose ideas of what I would need her to help with on the day of, but she found things to do that I completely forgot about! My wedding day would have not been nearly as organized and as calm with out her direction, confidence and organization. Her professionalism put my family at ease and made it so that they could enjoy the day without worrying and wondering if something was going to go wrong. Thank you so much Jodi, for everything!" -Amy
Ceremony Venue: Coquitlam Alliance Church Day-Of Coordinator: Jodi Marie Events Photographer: ALBA Wedding Dress: Bridal Gallery It's always an exciting day when I have the opportunity to share photos from previous weddings that I've been a part of. A & T's wedding is no exception. It took place this past November, and the day somehow managed to be a clear and beautiful despite the fact that the wedding took place in the late Fall. The details came together beautifully, and I loved how the couple displayed their unique personalities throughout the wedding. I few special memories from the wedding day:
Much love, Jodi Marie "In the beginning before first meeting with Jodi for planning our wedding, me and my husband were both at a loss at what all needed to be done, how to best plan everything, and how everything should be coordinated. Jodi's guidance, clear organization, and foresight were everything we needed to help make the vision of our special day into a reality. Honestly, our wedding wouldn't have turned out anywhere near as great if it wasn't for all of her hard work and dedication! I would recommend Jodi's services to any of my family and friends getting married looking for a helping hand!" -T Catering: Austin Gourmet
